Kistenpfennig in Munich

Great place for a quick, decent lunch. There is a fifth star if the chaos when ordering and picking up is cleared up. At the moment it works like this: You order from those who prepare the food, then continue to checkout, then have to say again what you ordered. Then everyone cries out what is ready and whether it is to take away ... There are packed sandwiches on the counter and nobody knows what belongs to whom. A relaxed lunch break is different.

I came to the bakery on Sunday and there was a woman with a dog at the counter. Of course, dogs have no place in food businesses. The saleswoman only: "They are cleaner than some people."

Actually a great bakery. I come by almost every day. Unfortunately the friendliness varies You can tell when the branch manager is there because then you work with the staff with friendliness. Clean displays, good deals! Not recommended at lunchtime for those who do not take a lunch break because long waiting times.

Very tasty cake selection

The selection and offer are quite good, but the most unfriendly staff in town seems to be gathered here. I was paid wrongly and had to be addressed stupidly because of my friendly (!!!) hint. Probably won't eat here again. No recommendation!

UPDATE: Today, 19th August 2020, I went for a salad or a sandwich to this place, that used be one of my favourite ones. In the same way I arrived, I needed to leave, without ordering any food: in the middle of rising numbers of Covid infections, 5 people behind the counter serving food, without any face masks at all, with their faces less than a meter away from the food and last but not least, only one of them wearing gloves to manipulate and serve stuff like sandwiches and the likes. What a wasted opportunity: if you can't take care of our health, we customers can't take care of your business. ----- Really good and tasty selection of salads, sandwiches and other options for lunch, in a key location near Odeonsplatz. The atmosphere is good, and the staff is gentle and friendly. I totally recommend this place.

One of the best places in the area for lunch or your afternoon cake and coffee. Their green smoothie is like a meal in itself! Lots of healthy options here but don’t shy away from the raspberry and quark cake. When in doubt start with one of their salads (ask to have it in a dish if you’re staying a while) and pair it with the incredible green dressing they have!

Good products but uninterested and almost unfriendly staff that makes an annoyed impression. I was hungry and would have preferred to go to a machine. I then refrained from the piece of cake that I also wanted to take with me. Too bad

Spelled cinnamon snail was very, very tasty, the rest looked good too. Large selection. Prices as you know it in Munich. Coffee was good too. Staff was friendly.

Good variety of breads and cakes. Prices are completely ok. Coffee is unconventional ... some chairs are very tight. The toilet is a challenge in terms of space, but there is one. The service was moderately friendly. Decent coffee ... at least soy milk on offer, which unfortunately is not yet a matter of course in Munich - oat milk would be even better ?

A really enjoyable place! A relaxed atmosphere and really good food, both sweet and salty. It feels like home. Suggested also for families with kids.

Very large selection of desserts, rolls, breads and already baked goods. There are also hot dishes on offer and you can sit comfortably both inside and in front of the bakery and linger for a while. Priced for Munich "normal".

Chaotic service. It is clear who the next one is, but is always overlooked. Why do you stand in line ?! The baked goods are good. But you can not find out if you can not order.

Very nice place to spend sometime outside of the city crowd. Had an banana chocolate cake and it was absolutely great! They have plenty of coffee variety.

I like this bakery as they offer more then average.

Loved it! Nice place for a breakfast or a break. They also have nice healthy vegetarian and vegan options for food and coffee. Conveniently close to the University. I will be visiting soon again.

Give yourselves a treat and visit one of their branches in Munich. Great cake selection, sandwiches and now even salad and bowls. They’re bread rolls taste like heaven. And pack one vanilla croissant when you’re there for your breakfast next day!

Awful service. Waited 15 minutes for a pretzel and a sassy answer. The staff seems to be stressed and overwhelmed. The pretzels are below average quality. Average prices (considering the service and the quality it's highly overpriced) Just chaotic. Avoid this place.
